Deadline

Since 20 July 2026, the transition period of Regulation (EU) 2024/3190 has ended for most single-use food contact articles. Bisphenol A is no longer permitted there.

Legally it is not part of the PPWR, but in practice it belongs in the same supplier request: the ban on bisphenol A (BPA) in food contact materials under Regulation (EU) 2024/3190.

The Regulation has been in force since 20 January 2025. On 20 July 2026, the main transition period for single-use articles ended. For certain canned foods, such as fruit, vegetables and fish, a longer period applies until 20 January 2028.

For your supplier requests, this means: get confirmation that BPA and its salts are not used intentionally and that no residues are to be expected in the finished packaging. The PPWR questionnaire in Certiflow asks for this in a dedicated section at the same time, so your supplier only has to answer once.
