What belongs in the declaration, who may sign it and when one declaration can cover several packagings.
Since 12 August, every packaging needs an EU declaration of conformity before it is placed on the market. Its content is set out in Annex VIII of the PPWR. There is no mandatory form.
What it must contain:
- a unique identification of the packaging by type, batch or serial number
- the name and address of the manufacturer
- a statement that the manufacturer bears sole responsibility
- the statement that the packaging conforms to Regulation (EU) 2025/40
- where applicable, the standards and specifications applied
- place, date, and name and function of the signatory
One declaration for several packagings is possible if they are identical in all properties relevant to conformity, such as cartons that differ only in size. The declaration then lists the items covered.
Signing is done by an authorised person, for example the head of quality management.
The declaration is only as good as the evidence behind it. For every packaging, Certiflow keeps the answers and documents from your suppliers on which the declaration is based.
